Echoes in the Canyon Civil War Reenactment is this Weekend at Breaks

DSC_0357 10The annual Echoes in the Canyon Civil War Reenactment is coming up this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, June 21-22. Events planned throughout the weekend will give visitors a glimpse into what life was like for soldiers as well as civilians during that time. Most of the events will be held around the Visitor Center area. Here’s the schedule:

Saturday, June 21
10 am – 5 pm – Living history in the camp. Visit with soldiers, see demonstrations.
10 am – Herbs and medicines of the time period
11 am – The Presidents’ wives at the Visitor Center
Noon – The importance of salt during the war
1 pm – The advantages and disadvantages for the North and South
2 pm – Thoughts, strategies, and fears before battle
2 pm – Skirmish

Sunday, June 22
10 am – Camp opens to the public
11 am – Period church services at the park amphitheater
Noon – 2 pm – Living history
2 pm – Skirmish
