2011 Schedule of Events
Events are added to our schedule throughout the year and are subject to change. Breaks Park also offers interpretive programming throughout the summer including guided hikes, gristmill demonstrations and more. Click here to download the Current Interpretive Programming Schedule. For more information on these or any other events, call 276-865-4413 ext. 246. The Rhododendron Restaurant closed for the winter season on December 21 and will re-open on April 1. It will be open one night only in February for a special Valentine's Day event.
FEBRUARY
12 — Special VALENTINE'S DINNER at the Rhododendron Restaurant. Reservations required.
APRIL
1 — RHODODENDRON RESTAURANT opens for spring.
23 — Annual EASTER EGG HUNT at Potter's Knoll sponsored by Alpha Natural Resources. Begins at noon.
24 — EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE at Potter's Knoll shelter. Begins at 6 a.m.
24 — Special EASTER BUFFET DINNER in the Rhododendron Restaurant
MAY
2 - 8 — CAMPER APPRECIATION WEEK
8 — Celebrate MOTHER'S DAY at the Rhododendron Restaurant with a special buffet. Mothers receive a discount!
13 - 14 — CABIN FEVER MOTORCYCLE RUN Details to come.
21 — INTERNATIONAL MIGRATORY BIRD DAY. Morning hike beginning at 8 am at the Visitor Center to seek out forest dwelling birds; Meet at the Visitor Center for an afternoon hike that will seek out Raptors and Edge-dwelling species at 1 pm.
28, 29, 30 — "JUBILEE IN THE BREAKS" Memorial Day Gospel Singing begins at 10:00 a.m. each day
JUNE
FARMER'S MARKET will begin June 21 and will be held each Tuesday during the remainder of the month of June from 8 a.m. to noon.
MOVIES will be shown in the campground each Wednesday and Friday beginning June 15. No admission charge.
4 — NATIONAL TRAILS DAY events scheduled
18, 19 — "A GOSPEL MUSIC CELEBRATION IN THE MOUNTAINS" Father's Day Gospel Sing begins at 4 pm on Saturday and 1 pm on Sunday
25, 26 — ECHOES IN THE CANYON Civil War Reenactment and Living History
JULY
FARMER'S MARKET will be held each Tuesday throughout the month of July from 8 a.m. to noon.

AUGUST
1 - 7 — TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK in the Campground
5 — Grammy Nominated BLUE HIGHWAY will perform at the amphitheater. Show begins at 8 pm. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the gate. Tickets may be purchased by calling 276-865-4413 ext. 244.
6 — Final MOVIE NIGHT of the season in the campground. No admission charge.

SEPTEMBER
3, 4, 5 — Annual TRI-STATE GOSPEL SING beginning at 10 a.m. each day
OCTOBER
Looking for great fall colors? Our SPECTACULAR FALL FOLIAGE generally peaks in mid-October.
Water is released annually from the John Flannagan Reservoir during the first four weekends in October to create from Class two up to Class six rapids -- WORLD CLASS WHITEWATER -- on the Russell Fork River through Breaks Gorge.
HALLOWEEN WEEKENDS in the Campground will be held every weekend in October, featuring a campsite decorating contest each weekend.
1 — MOLASSES STIR OFF begins at 7:00 a.m.
1 — GRUNDY AND CLINTWOOD KIWANIS ANNUAL 5K RUN begins at 10 a.m.
1 — HERITAGE HOEDOWNERS Appalachian song and dance program begins at 1 p.m.
15 — HALLOWEEN CONTEST & MOVIE NIGHT begins at 7 pm at the amphitheater. Open to children ages birth to 13; "Monster House" will be shown after the contest.
21, 22 & 28,29 — SECOND ANNUAL HAUNTED HOUSE sponsored by Breaks Park and Boy Scout Troop 750; Located in the former park administrative building. Admission $3 for ages 12 & up; $2 for 11 and under. Lighted tours will also be available for those who wish to have a less-scary experience.
22 — PIKE COUNTY EXTENSION'S “HOMEMAKING IN THE MOUNTAINS” annual regional craft event held in the Rhododendron Conference Center
NOVEMBER
5 - 6 — APPALACHIAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL
24 — Join us for a special THANKSGIVING FEAST in the Rhododendron Restaurant! Turkey, all the fixings and much more. Thanksgiving Dinner Buffet served from 11 am to 6 p.m. No reservations required.
