Breaks Park Employees Sworn in as Special Conservators of the Peace

Breaks, VA – Employees at Breaks Interstate Park were sworn in as Special Conservators of the Peace by Circuit Court Judge Henry Vanover last week, giving them full police powers within and around the boundaries of the park. Each of the men completed the required training in June to become Special Conservators of the Peace.

Training was conducted by the Commonwealth Criminal Justice Training Academy, based in Fredricksburg, Virginia. It included 40 hours of instruction in the areas of firearms; defensive tactics; officer survival; criminal law; search and seizure; rules of arrest; laws of evidence; and criminal procedure.
