Park Information & Hours

The park is open year-round to visitors, but the restaurant and some activities aren’t available during a portion of time in the off-season. See below for details.

Gates: open all year

Lodging (Motel, Cottages, Cabins): open all year

Visitor Center: March 30 – May 24: Monday – Wednesday: Closed, Thursday – Sunday: 9 am to 5 pm; May 25 – July 31: Monday- Sunday: 10 am to 6 pm;  August 1 – August 29: Monday – Wednesday: Closed, Thursday – Sunday: 10 am to 6 pm. A 24-hour touch screen kiosk is located outside the Visitor Center which offers park information and trail maps. For information about weekly interpretive programming, click here. For special events, such as festivals, etc., click here.

Campground: open from March 1 – December 2.

Campground Store: March 30 – May 24: Monday – Wednesday: Closed, Thursday: 12 pm to 8 pm,  Friday: 12 pm to 8 pm, Saturday: 10 am to 8 pm, & Sunday: 10 am to 6 pm; May 25 – September 3: Monday – Wednesday: 12 pm to 8 pm, Thursday – Saturday: 10 am to 10 pm, & Sunday: 10 am to 8 pm; September 4 – October 28: Monday – Wednesday: Closed, Thursday – Saturday: 10 am to 10 pm, & Sunday 10 am to 6 pm. The campground store is closed for the remainder of the year.

Pedal Boats: May 5 – May 24: Monday – Friday: Closed, Saturday – Sunday: 11 am to 6 pm; May 25 – August 5: Monday -Thursday: 11 am to 6 pm, Friday – Saturday: 11 am to 8 pm, & Sunday: 11am – 6 pm; August 6 – September 23: Monday – Friday: Closed, Saturday: 11 am to 8 pm, Sunday: 11 am to 6 pm; September 24 – October 28: Monday – Friday: Closed, Saturday – Sunday: 11 am to 6 pm. Pedal boats are closed for the remainder of the year.

Day-use Areas: River access areas at Ratliff Hole and Garden Hole are closed at sunset each day and gates are locked at that time.

Front Desk: The front desk is open year round. The hours of operation vary. (Front desk is closed during the winter Holidays, i.e., December 23, 24, 25, and 26th, 2017, and January 1, 2018.)

Rhododendron Restaurant Operating hours
The days of operation vary depending on the season:

In 2018, the Rhododendron Restaurant will open for the season on Friday, March 2. The schedule is as follows:

From March 2 – May 24, the Rhododendron Restaurant will be open Friday and Saturday from 7 am to 9 pm, and Sunday from 7 am to 8 pm.

From the Friday prior to Memorial Day (May 25) through Labor Day (September 3), the restaurant is open daily from 7 am to 9 pm;

Beginning AFTER Labor Day (September 4) through October 28, it follows the following schedule:
Monday and Tuesday: 8 am to 3 pm
Wednesday and Thursday: 11 am to 8 pm
Friday and Saturday: 7 am to 9 pm
Sunday: 7 am to 8 pm

October 29 – December 2
Monday – Thursday: Closed
Friday – Saturday: 7 am to 9 pm
Sunday: 7 am to 8 pm

The restaurant is closed during the remainder of the year.

Splash! in the Park
Splash in the Park is open daily from the Saturday prior to Memorial Day through August 5. After August 5, Splash! in the park will be open on weekends only through September 3. After Labor Day, Splash! in the Park will be closed for the season.

Hours of operation are as follows:

May 26 – August 5:
Monday – Thursday: 10 am to 6 pm, Friday – Saturday: 10 am to 8 pm, & Sunday: 10 am to 6 pm.

August 6 – September 3:
Monday – Friday: Closed, Saturday: 10 am to 8pm, & Sunday: 10 am to 6 pm.

Admission: Monday through Friday
48″ and taller – $8
Under 48″ – $6
Seniors (Age 55+) – $6
Infants age 1 and under – Free

Saturday & Sunday
48″ and taller – $10
Under 48″ – $8
Seniors (Age 55+) – $8

Admission for kids under four feet tall is half-off after 3 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Splash! Family/Group Fun Pass punch cards may be purchased at Splash! in the Park in-season during operating hours.

Horseback Riding: Open seasonally.

Hiking/Biking Trails: open all year

Hours of operation for different areas of the park vary depending on the season. Call for specific times.

Fees: A $2 day-use fee per car for admittance; $10 per bus (15-passenger or more). Season gate passes may be purchased at the Park Visitor Center for $26.

Late Check-in: If you arrive after the front desk/camp store has closed, For lodge rooms, cabins, or cottages: go to the front entrance of the Rhododendron Lodge/Restaurant. Check-in packets will be posted in the breezeway. Reservations for campsites are now site specific. If you have a reservation and arrive late, a check-in packet and instructions will be posted on the building at the entrance of the campground. Those without reservations may contact the on-call ranger (number is posted at the camp store) for assistance in choosing a site. If you are arriving without a reservation and wish to book a multiple night stay, visit the Camp Store if open or the reservations desk at the Rhododendron Lodge to schedule those accommodations.
