Park Information & Hours

The park is open year-round to visitors, but the restaurant and some activities aren’t available during a portion of time in the off-season. See below for details.

Lodging (Motel, Cottages, Cabins): open all year

Front Desk: The front desk is open year round. The hours of operation vary. (Front desk is closed during the winter Holidays, i.e., December 23, 24, 25, and 26th, 2018, and January 1, 2019.)

Visitor Center: The Visitor Center holds our historical and cultural museum, the gristmill, moonshine still, Counts cabin, and is the normal meeting place for our seasonal interpretive programming. A 24-hour touch screen kiosk is located outside the Visitor Center which offers park information and trail maps. March 30 – May 23: Monday – Wednesday: Closed, Thursday – Sunday: 9 am to 5 pm.
May 24 – July 31: Monday- Sunday: 10 am to 6 pm.
August 1 – October 28: Monday – Wednesday: Closed, Thursday – Sunday: 10 am to 6 pm.

After October 28, the Visitor Center is closed until our Spring 2020 season.

Campground: open from March 30 – November 10

Day-use Areas: River access areas at Ratliff Hole and Garden Hole are closed at sunset each day and gates are locked at that time.

Restaurant: Open seasonally. Details here.

Fees: A $2 day-use fee per car for admittance; $10 per bus (15-passenger or more). Season gate passes may be purchased at the Park Visitor Center for $26.

Late Check-in: If you arrive after the front desk/camp store has closed: for lodge rooms, cabins, or cottages: Check-in packets will be posted on the Rhododendron Lodge’s front door. If you have a campsite reservation and arrive late, a check-in packet and instructions will be posted on the building at the entrance of the campground. Those without reservations may contact the on-call ranger (number is posted at the camp store) for assistance in choosing a site. If you are arriving without a reservation and wish to book a multiple night stay, visit the Camp Store if open or the reservations desk at the Rhododendron Lodge to schedule those accommodations.
