Riding Through the Breaks — A Weekend of Adventure, Community, and Curves
Riders at Breaks Interstate Park, freshly geared up and ready to explore the scenic, winding roads of Appalachia. The group gathered at the park before setting out to enjoy the region’s famous mountain curves and backroads.
This past weekend, Breaks Interstate Park was proud to host another unforgettable motorcycle event: The MOA Getaway by Rides4Fun. With over 140 riders traveling in from 17 states and two countries, this gathering brought together motorcycle enthusiasts for three days of scenic rides, fellowship, and a shared love for the open road.
Thanks to Rides4Fun and Backroads of Appalachia, the event was not only a success—it was an experience. Riders explored some of the region's most iconic routes, including the famed "Back of the Dragon," VA Hwy 80 through Hayters Gap, and the switchback-rich roads of Big Ridge and Duncan Branch. With the REVER app making navigation easy, participants were free to soak in the beauty of the Appalachian landscape without the stress of route planning.
Throughout the weekend, it was clear that the event extended well beyond the park itself. Many riders took the opportunity to explore nearby communities, stop into local shops and restaurants, and experience the region in a way that left a lasting impression. Their journeys weren’t confined to the park—they became part of the broader story of what makes this corner of Appalachia so special.
The weekend wasn't just about twisty roads and scenic views (although we have plenty of those). Riders formed new friendships, shared meals, swapped stories, and took home lasting memories. One lucky winner even scored a free set of Dunlop tires during the Saturday night prize giveaways—though many agreed the real reward was simply the ride itself.
Special thanks go out to Rides4Fun and Backroads of Appalachia for organizing and promoting the event. Their dedication to motorcycle tourism in our region is making a real difference, and we’re proud to be part of it.
Whether you're a lifelong rider or new to two wheels, Breaks Interstate Park invites you to plan your next ride with us as your home base. There’s a world of curves, culture, and community waiting just beyond the ridge.
